MnDOT reopens southbound 35W

MINNEAPOLIS -- The southbound stretch of Interstate 35W heading out of downtown Minneapolis is reopening after being shut down most of the weekend.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation closed the southbound lanes of the freeway from downtown Minneapolis to Highway 62 Friday night at 10 p.m. in order to perform utility relocation. It's part of the ongoing major renovation of the 35W-Crosstown interchange.
MnDOT spokesman Kent Barnard says crews rushed to finish the work and reopen the freeway before Sunday afternoon's Minnesota Twins game ends.
