MADISON, Wis. — A former University of Wisconsin-Madison student from Minnesota has been charged in a high-profile stabbing death.
Adam C. Peterson has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the January 28th stabbing death of 31-year-old Joel Marino.
Police Chief Noble Wray says Peterson's DNA matches DNA recovered from the knife used to kill Marino.
The 20-year-old Peterson was a UW-Madison student before dropping out last fall. Police say he continued living in the area until earlier this year.
District Attorney Brian Blanchard says Peterson is expected to be extradited from Minnesota to Madison soon to make his initial court appearance.
