by The Associated Press

CASS LAKE -- A northern Minnesota school superintendent is accused of fondling a 17-year-old boy.

Authorities say Cass Lake-Bena School District Superintendent Carl Remmers groped the boy at the Alternative Living Center in Cass Lake and at a hotel in Bemidji.

The 65-year-old superintendent is charged in Beltrami County District Court with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The boy told investigators Remmer touched him inappropriately while in an office at the learning center. He says Remmers drove him to Bemidji July 18, bought him some clothes, then took him to a motel where he assaulted him.

The school district has placed Remmers on paid administrative leave.
