WJON Sports


The New York Yankees completed a 3-game sweep of the Twins winning 5-1 at Yankee Stadium Thursday in the Bronx.  Mike Mussina threw 8 shutout inning to get his 13th win for New York.  Glen Perkins allowed 8 hits and 5 earned runs in 6 innings to take the loss and drop to 7-3.  Mike Lamb led the Twins at the plate going 3-4 with an RBI and Alexi Casilla was 2-4 with a run scored for Minnesota.  The Twins fall to 55-46 and are now 2 1/2 games back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  Minnesota is off today and will open a 3-game series at Cleveland Friday night at 6:05, pregame on WJON at 5:35.  Righthander Livan Hernandez (10-6) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Cliff Lee (13-2) toes the rubber for Cleveland.
