Vikings arrive at camp with Favre speculation
by The Associated Press
MANKATO -- The Minnesota Vikings started trickling into Mankato tonight to get ready for training camp. Surprise, surprise, they faced plenty of questions about Brett Favre.
The Packers have filed tampering charges against the Vikings for alleged inappropriate contact with Favre. The three-time MVP is still under contract with Green Bay, but says he wants to return from his brief retirement.
Coach Brad Childress declined to comment on the situation, only saying that ``you can't believe everything you read.''
Most of the players who arrived tonight brushed aside mention of Favre and threw their support behind starting quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.
But veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield says he thinks adding Favre to the mix would be ``a great move for us.''
The Vikings officially open camp on Friday.
