WJON Sports


The Twins lost 8-2 to the Yankees at Yankee Stadium Tuesday night.  Derek Jeter had a 2-run double, Robinson Cano went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and Bobby Abreu hit a 2-run homerun for New York.  Kevin Slowey allowed 4 runs in 5 inning to take the loss.  Denard Span went 2-3 with a run scored from the leadoff spot and Carlos Gomez went 1-3 with a run scored batting ninth.  The Twins fall to 55-45 and are now 1 1/2 games back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  Minnesota is 3-18 at Yankee Stadium since 2002.  Minnesota tries to salvage the final game of the 3-game series at Yankee Stadium today at 12:05, pregame on WJON at 11:35.  Lefthander Glen Perkins (7-2) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Mike Mussina (12-6) toes the rubber for the Yankees.
