Timberwolves sign F Craig Smith
by The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS  -- The Minnesota Timberwolves have re-signed restricted free agent forward Craig Smith.

The third-year player is considered undersized for his power forward position. But Smith has shown a knack for scoring in the paint and grabbing rebounds in his role off the bench.

Smith averaged 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds a game last year for the Wolves. He scored a career-high 36 points against the Wizards in December.

That leaves restricted free agent forward Ryan Gomes and free agent point guard Sebastian Telfair as the final two players from last year's team that have yet to be signed. The Wolves have expressed an interest in bringing both players back.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
