New library Capital Campaign coming-up short
by Jim Maurice, WJON.com

ST. CLOUD -- The new St. Cloud Public Library is close to opening it's doors, but a fundraising campaign to fill it is coming-up short.

Marj Hawkins is the co-chair of the capital campaign. She says they've raised $600,000 of their $1.5 million goal so far. Originally, they were hoping to have all of the money raised before the building opened.

Because the new building is significantly larger than the current library, the money is needed to help fill it with new books, computers, and artwork.

Their next fundraiser will be an auction on September 20th, during the library's grand opening.

Hawkins says they'll keep plugging away at their goal, even though it's taking them longer than expected.
