ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud City Council has approved a street improvement plan in the Lake George neighborhood area.
The $900,000 East Lake Boulevard project will improve streets, parking, sidewalks and utilities in the area.
The project is part of the Lake George and Eastman Park renovation that was started in 2008.
East Lake Boulevard will be re-surfaced from 5th Street South to the parking lot at the northeast end. In addition, 4th, 5th, and 6th Street South will be reconstructed from East Lake Boulevard to 9th Avenue South. New parking lots and lighting will be built at the northeast end of the boulevard and at the Vietnam Memorial on the north end.
Also part of the project will be new six-foot sidewalks, sanitary sewer and water mains and drainage improvements.
The work is being paid for through assessments, sewer and water revenues and half-cent sales tax dollars.
