Lake George benefit to help kids with genetic disorder

ST. CLOUD -- You can walk around Lake George tomorrow (Saturday) to raise awareness about a little known disease.
Join others from 19 metropolitan areas around the country in the first ever Angelman Syndrome Foundation National Walk-A-Thon in Minnesota. It begins at 10:00 a.m at the Eastman Park on Lake George.
Spokesman Jeff Giacomini says you'll have a chance to meet inspiring young people with Angleman Syndrome.
Angelman Syndrome is a neurological disorder that is largely misdiagnosed as either autism or cerebral palsy.
Individuals with Angelman Syndrome are developmentally delayed, have a difficulty with balance and walking. They sometimes laugh innappropriately and experience seizures. Most individuals with Angelman Syndrome cannot speak. They will requre care for the rest of their lives.
You can participate in a one- or five-mile walk around Lake George. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.
