DNR eases burning restrictions in central Minnesota
by The Associated Press
UNDATED -- The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is easing burning restrictions in central Minnesota due to April rains.
The DNR says it's lifting the restrictions because the recent precipitation provided lots of moisture for growing plants. The spring green up reduces the fire danger.
The following counties have permission to issue permits on Friday: Anoka, Ramsey Washington, Chisago, Sherburne, Benton, Stearns, Todd, Morrison, Isanti, Mille Lacs and Kanabec.
The department says that as green up continues in northern Minnesota, burning restrictions there will also eventually be eased.
The department is still asking people to use common sense around outdoor fires. That includes making sure water is available to extinguish it, approaching such fires with caution and never leaving a fire until it's completely out.
