by Jim Maurice, WJON.com and The Associated Press

ST. PAUL -- Stearns County is expected to see a 23-percent increase in home foreclosures this year.

A study commissioned by the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund predicts that 463 homes will be foreclosed on in Stearns County alone in 2008.  In 2005 the county had just 136 home foreclosures.  In 2006 there were 219. And last year there was 375.

They're predicting 559 foreclosures in Sherburne County.  That's actually a 17% decrease.  The county recorded 673 foreclosures in 2007.

And in Benton County, they're expected to have about the same number this year as they did last year -- around 176.

Statewide, home foreclosures are estimated to go up 39-percent over a year ago.

One in every 31 households statewide will have gone through the foreclosure process from 2005 through the end of 20008.
