National Weather Service to use landmarks, cities for new warning system

CHANHASSEN -- When severe weather happens in Minnesota this summer, the National Weather Service hopes a change in the way they issue warnings will make the information more accurate.
Meteorologist Todd Krause says in years past, warnings would be issued for an entire county even if the storm only affected a small portion of the county.
Krause says now they will now try to zero-in on part of a county and use cities and well-known landmarks as a guide.
The change actually went into effect October First of last year but will be truly tested this severe weather season.
