St. John's alum takes over as interim President

COLLEGEVILLE -- A 1970 graduate of St. John's University has been named the interim President of the school.

St. John's announced today (Tuesday) Dan Whalen will take over until a permanent president can be found.

Whalen lives in Oakland, California with his wife and three children.

Brother Dietrich Reinhart announced his resignation last week, due to a diagnosis of melanoma.

Reinhart had been the President at St. John's since 1991.

The Board of Regents will now begin the search for the 12th President of St. John's University.
