COLLEGEVILLE -- The President of St. John's University has announced he is resigning.
Brother Dietrich Reinhart is stepping down after 17 years because he is battling a form of lung cancer.
Reinhart has been on medical leave and his resignation takes effect once an interim president is appointed.
Meanwhile, Reinhart will serve as the founding director and chair of a newly formed Benedictine Institute at St. John's as his medical treatment allows.
