The St. Cloud Recreation Department is offering a Minnesota Twins Baseball and Softball Clinic on Saturday, July 26 at Whitney Park Baseball Field C-2. These clinics provide hands-on instruction for boys and girls ages 6-16. The first session is for youth ages 6-9 years old from 10-11:30am, and the second session is for youth ages 10-16 from 11:30am-1pm. Play Ball! Minnesota Youth Clinics are designed to teach basic fundamentals including hitting, fielding and throwing. The Play Ball! Minnesota Youth Clinics instructors are compromised of former baseball players, coaches, scouts, and/or teachers. Youth participants are asked to bring their baseball or softball gloves. Items that you can throw into the truck include: paints, cleaners, chemicals, and fluorescent bulbs. Items that will NOT be accepted include: used motor oil, furniture, tires, and appliances. Minnesota Teen Challenge Freedom Ride Saturday, August 16, 2008
Minnesota Teen Challenge is having its first ever Freedom Ride Event, on Saturday, August 16th, at the metrodome for lunch at noon, and the concert before the game. Riders and supporters of Minnesota Teen Challenge will gather from across Minnesota for a day filled with Motorcycles, an all-you-can-eat-meal, musical entertainment from Chad James and his band, and the Twins vs. the Seattle Mariners baseball game. To top it off you will have a chance at winning a new Harley Davidson Super Glide! For every $500 you raise from friends, family, and neighbors your name will be entered to win the Harley! Even more, the top ten fund- raisers will have the opportunity to ride their motorcycles around the dome during the game. All bikes will be parked in a special viewing lot for all to see! All proceeds will go toward Minnesota Teen Challenge, a nonprofit residential program committed to helping their residents overcome drug and alcohol addiction. You can help Minnesota Teen Challenge in setting people free from addiction while having a great time. Cost is $100 for riders and $50 for passengers and walk-ins. The Upsala Lions Club’s 19th Annual Hog Roast and Corn Boil Pig-out is Saturday, August 20 from 5-8pm. Cost for Adults $7 in advance, $7.50 at the door. Youth, (6-12 years old) tickets are $5 in advance, $5.50 at the door. Children 5 and under eat free. The proceeds will be used for Community Projects.

The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Truck Saturday, August 23, 2008
The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste truck will travel to cities around the county, collecting hazardous products. Items that you can throw into the truck include: paints, cleaners, chemicals, and fluorescent bulbs. Items that will NOT be accepted include: used motor oil, furniture, tires, and appliances. The service is free for you to use. The next stop will be in St. Joseph on Saturday, August 23 from 9 until 1pm at the Public Works Garage.
