City Attorney: Minneapolis Can’t Ban Redskins Name

The Minneapolis City Attorney's office says the city can't ban the Redskins name when Washington plays the Vikings at the University of Minnesota next month. The city attorney concluded Minneapolis has no jurisdiction over speech on property owned by the university because the school is a state — not a municipal — entity.

Programs On Stereotyping Planned For Vikings, Redskins Game

The University of Minnesota is announcing several days of programs to increase awareness of racial stereotyping ahead of next month's Vikings-Redskins football game on campus. University officials have said they're working with the Vikings to keep the Redskins' name from being used when the two teams play at TCF Bank Stadium on Nov. 2. That situation hasn't been resolved yet.
