ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - St. Paul police say a man has survived a 40-foot fall onto a highway after he jumped off a retaining wall during a chase with officers.

St. Paul police spokesman Paul Paulos says the man was taken to a hospital Wednesday with injuries sustained in the fall that weren't life threatening.

He said the suspect would be kept overnight.

Police say they were investigating a narcotics call downtown on Wednesday afternoon when the suspect started running.

He fell onto Interstate 94 at Wabasha Street.
