ECKLES TOWNSHIP, Minn. (AP) - Sheriff's deputies in northern Minnesota are investigating after a girl was shot several times while standing on the deck of her home.

The 17-year-old was able to call 911 after she was shot Monday about 10 p.m. Beltrami County sheriff's deputies responded to the Eckles Township house and began first aid until an ambulance arrived. The teen was taken to Bemidji Sanford Hospital, then transferred to a Duluth hospital.

Deputies and Bemidji officers searched the neighborhood for the shooting suspect and arrested a 40-year-old man a couple blocks away. The man is in the Beltrami County Jail.
