Memorial Day Events Planned Around St. Cloud Area
UNDATED - There are a handful of events in honor of Memorial Day that are happening around the area this weekend.
The Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Memorial Service is on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The event will have a parade of flags, as well as music, and a guest speaker.
A Memorial Day Service at the historic Stanger Cemetery will be at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. It's located along the Sauk River near Waite Park on County Road 138, just south of Mills Fleet Farm. About 40 of the area's first settlers, including a Civil War veteran, are laid to rest in the small cemetery.
The Sartell American Legion is hosting a Memorial Day Service on Monday at 9:00 a.m. at Veterans Park.
A Community Memorial Mass will be at the Assumption Cemetery on Monday at 9:00 a.m. Bishop Kinney will be the celebrant. It's sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
A ceremony will be on Monday at the St. Cloud VA Healthcare System. The parade of colors starts at 10:30 a.m. The official ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m. in the building 96 parking lot. Music will be provided by the St. Cloud Municipal Band.
A reminder, the National Moment Of Remembrance will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. All Americans are encouraged to pause wherever they are for a minute of silence to honor those who have died in service to the nation.
