80 Percent Of Metrodome To Be Recycled
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority says most of the Metrodome will be recycled as the Vikings' former home is demolished.
Authority Chair Michele Kelm-Helgen said Wednesday that plans call for more than 80 percent of the material that is being hauled away to be recycled.
The Metrodome is being torn down to make way for a new $1 billion Vikings stadium. Demolition is scheduled to be completed next month.
The authority says excavation for the new stadium is nearly 50 complete. Nearly 3 percent of the concrete that will be used in the new stadium has been poured.
Construction of the new stadium is scheduled to be completed in July 2016.
