ST. PAUL (AP) — Eight jurors have been selected so far for the murder trial of a St. Paul man accused of killing his wife.

Thirty-nine-year-old Jeffery Trevino is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the death of his wife, Kira Steger. Steger disappeared in February. Her body was pulled from the Mississippi River more than two months later.

Five men and three women were chosen as jurors Tuesday in Ramsey County court. Twenty-four prospective jurors were questioned.

Jury selection will continue until 12 jurors and two alternates are chosen. The trial is expected to last about three weeks.

Family members say Steger was trying to leave Trevino when she was killed. Authorities say "copious amounts" of blood were found in the couple's home.
