ROCHESTER (AP) - A Rochester mother has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for causing injuries and fractures to her twin babies.

Twenty-two-year-old Kanishka Shereal Molina pleaded guilty to first-degree assault-causing great bodily harm in an agreement with prosecutors in Olmsted County. The infants suffered arm, leg and rib fractures.

Authorities started investigating after Molina and her husband brought their 4-month-old son to Saint Marys Hospital in May 2011. A body scan revealed multiple fractures. Police then went to the couple's home and found the baby's twin sister had also been injured.

Olmsted County District Court Judge Jodi Williamson sentenced Molina to 86 months in prison on Monday.
