ST. AUGUSTA - A six-year-old South Haven boy was hit by a car this (Monday) while walking to the school bus.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Department says the incident happened just before 7:30 a.m. on County Road 7 in St. Augusta.

A school bus driven by 62-year-old Linda Rose of South Haven was southbound for a scheduled pick-up of three kids.  Authorities say Kyle Voigt began to cross the road and was struck by a vehicle heading north.  That vehicle was driven by 60-year-old Margaret Hartneck of St. Augusta.

The boy was taken to St. Cloud Hospital.  Chief Deputy Bruce Bechtold describes his injuries as "not life-threatening".

The Stearns County Sheriff's Department would like to talk to the driver of a red car that witnesses indicate was traveling behind Hartneck's vehicle. That driver may be able to provide information helpful to complete the investigation.  They are being asked to call the Sheriff's Department at 251-4240.
