Police Take Suicidal Man Into Custody

Saint Cloud Police continue their investigation into a Friday standoff with a man believed suicidal. Police were notified just before 5pm that a 43 year Coon Rapids man at a residence in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue Southeast had a gun and was contemplating suicide.
A patrol unit set up a perimeter around the address and a tactical response team with negotiators responded. After about 4 and a half hours and several attempts by negotiators to make contact, the man left his room and was taken into custody with minor injuries and taken to Saint Cloud Hospital by ambulance.
The investigation determined that the man did not have a firearm and possible charges of obstructing the legal process are contemplated. The Saint Cloud Police Department was assisted at the scene by a Sauk Rapids Police Department K-9 unit.
