ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) - Rochester police say a 4-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was bitten by a neighbor's dog.

Police say the boy and his father stopped by the neighbor's home late Saturday morning. The 28-year-old homeowner was in the backyard with another woman trimming trees.

Reports say the homeowner's 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier was licking the child's face, but the boy did not like it. When a woman picked up the child, the dog latched onto his leg.

Witnesses say it took three adults and at least three minutes to get the dog off of the boy. He was taken to Saint Marys Hospital with serious leg injuries.

The dog is now quarantined. Animal Control is investigating whether the dog should be declared dangerous.
