ST. JOSEPH -- The classic tale of "The Nutcracker" takes center stage at the Escher Auditorium tomorrow (Saturday) for a special one day performance with the Minnesota Ballet.

The ballet tells the story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they travel to the Land of Sweets.

The show is slightly different than the original 1892 ballet. It's set in 20th-century Manhattan.

About 30 local dancers have been rehearsing ballet since September under the direction of local ballet instructors Ana Freire and Erika Jaguiella.

Freire says it was a challenging show to cast.

The College of St. Benedict and St. John's University Orchestra will join the dancers for a live performance.

The special one day performance has show times at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on-sale now at The College of St. Benedict and St. John's University.
