294 Sexual Assaults Reported On Minnesota Campuses In 2015
ST. PAUL (AP) - A new report says nearly 300 sexual assaults were reported on Minnesota college campuses last year, and about one-sixth were reported to law enforcement.
The state's first report on campus sexual assault was released Thursday with the goal of tracking the incidents in a more detailed fashion than federal policy requires.
Of the 294 incidents reported in 2015, 64 of them were investigated, 108 of them were referred for discipline and 55 were reported to law enforcement.
The reason only half of incidents reported are investigated could be for a variety of reasons, including students who want get help recovering from the trauma of the incident rather than pursuing an investigation.
Minnesota lawmakers began requiring all colleges and universities to begin collecting and disclosing reports of rape or other sexual attacks last year.
