$25,000 Anonymous Gift Given to St. Cloud Reading Program

ST. CLOUD - The District 742 Local Education and Activities Foundation has received a large anonymous gift to help kids read in the St. Cloud area.

A $25,000 grant was given through the Central Minnesota Community Foundation to support their Partners And Kids Reading A-Lot Together (PAKRAT) program. PAKRAT is a child reading and parent involvement program. It gives books to all preschool through 3rd grade students in District 742 through the school year and a bus to deliver books to students during the summer.

Money will be used to buy replacement books for both the school year and summer reading programs.

This summer, over 2,000 St. Cloud area students have checked out over 5,700 books from the program.
