ST. CLOUD - Starting today, St. Cloud residents can register their

neighborhood events in recognition of the 28th Annual "National Night Out."

National Night Out was created nearly 3 decades ago to raise drug and crime prevention awareness and strengthen community spirit.

From 6-10 p.m on August 2nd, neighborhood residents across the country are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening with their neighbors. Many neighborhoods host block parties, cookouts and rallies.

The city of St. Cloud wants you to register your National Night Out event. Registration begins today and can be done by calling the St. Cloud Police Department at 345-4182.

National Night Out includes neighborhoods from all 50 states, and is expected to have over 37 million participants.
