200 In Minnesota Mark 50th Anniversary Of King March

ST. PAUL (AP) - About 200 people in St. Paul have commemorated the 1963 March on Washington with a march of their own.

The crowd marched to the Minnesota Capitol Wednesday to mark the 50th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.

Eighty-three-year-old Max Fallek of St. Louis Park was one of 58 Minnesotans in an official delegation to the 1963 march. Fallek says his employer tried to discourage him from going, saying there were going to be riots.

But the March on Washington was peaceful.

Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison spoke to the crowd. He urged young men in the march to be aware of those who had come before them, and said they have a duty "to make this world better for the next generation."
