SAUK RAPIDS - Two boys from Sauk Rapids are state gymnastics champions. Members of the North Crest Kids Activity Center in Sauk Rapids competed in the "USAG Minnesota Men's Gymnastics State Championships" over the weekend in Plymouth.

Eighteen-year-old Michael Stone of Sauk Rapids is a state champion in the Level 8 floor and vault competitions. Stone is a senior at Sauk Rapids-Rice, and also a post-secondary student at St. Cloud State University.

Also, 13-year-old Ethan Gonzalez of Sauk Rapids is a state champion in the Level 6 floor competition. He also placed third in the parallel bars, high bars, and all-around.

The men's competitive program at North Crest is in its second year. North Crest is one of only 22 gyms in the state with a men's competitive program.

Other North Crest gymnasts competing at the state meet included: Joey Sonaglia, 8, Sartell, (Level 5) fifth on vault with a 9.7; MattiaOculisti-Szabo, 12, Sartell, (Level 5) second on parallel bars with an 8.9; Jaden Gonzalez, 8, Sauk Rapids; and Oliver Schoenrock, 9, Sauk Rapids.
