SAUK CENTRE - Two men were hurt in a broadside crash south of Sauk Centre this (Wednesday) morning. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at the intersection of Highway 71 and County Road 29 at about 7:40 a.m.

A car driven by 50-year-old Thomas Schmiesing of Sauk Center was going south on Highway 71. Meanwhile, a car driven by 20-year-old Taylor Gieske of Melrose was going west on the county road.

Gieske was distracted and ended-up skidding through the intersection. The two vehicles then hit broadside.

Gieske has non life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital in Sauk Centre. Schmiesing was taken to St Cloud Hospital with serious injuries.
