ST. PAUL (AP) - St. Paul police are investigating a group assault in a downtown skyway that left a 23-year-old man with a bloody face and his 59-year-old friend with a broken wrist.

Both victims said Tuesday they believe the Jan. 19 attack in the Town Square skyway area of the Bremer Tower was gang-related. Thomas Klein and his co-worker say they were approached by a group of at least six men wearing red jackets.

Klein says his tooth cut through his cheek after he was suddenly punched in the face, while his friend was jumped from behind. He says the suspects stomped on the man's wrist as he lay on the ground.

A department spokesman says police are trying to determine who the suspects are and why they attacked the men.
