2 Injury Crashes on Monday Evening near St. Joe

ST. JOSEPH – The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department responded to a pair of crashes last (Monday) evening.

At about 5:00 p.m. they were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 2 and Halfman Road, about four miles north of Cold Spring.

19-year-old Philomena Wertish of Cold Spring lost control on the icy road and slid into a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Jay Gombos of Rice.  Wertish was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

And at about 5:40 p.m. deputies were called to a one vehicle crash on County Road 2 in St. Joseph Township.

49-year-old Nicolasa Puente of Cold Spring lost control and went into the ditch.  The driver and two 10-year-old passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
