ST. PETER (AP) -- Gustavus Adolphus College is stepping up security after sexual assaults on two female students were attempted on campus over the weekend.

The women were walking alone at night. Police believe the same man is responsible.

The first attempted assault happened near the Melva Lind Interpretive Center early Saturday. The second was near the Alfred Nobel Hall of Science Sunday night.

St. Peter Police Chief Matt Peters says the attempted assaults were in "not vulnerable areas, really pretty good lighting" and carried out by "a complete
stranger to these two victims."

Peters says police have a description but are withholding its release because it is so vague.

A campus-only forum about the assaults was scheduled Monday night.
