ST. CLOUD -- Roads were blocked off this morning for the 15th Annual Earth Day Run. Thousands of runners were in St. Cloud competing in the Half Marathon race at St. Cloud State.

The 13.1 mile competition started at 8:30 a.m. Grand Rapids native John Heitzman was the first male runner through the finish line. He says it was a little chilly outside but running with his friend from college helped pass time.

McKenzie Holt from St. Cloud was the first female to complete the race. She finished in about one hour and 26 minutes. She says the weather was a lot better than she expected it to be, "the sun actually came up, it was really nice."

After the race runners and their families were invited to cool off in St. Cloud State's Field House for Earth Day Run activities and snacks.
