UPDATE: Train Cars Derail in Western Minnesota, Spill Crude Oil

The Otter Tail Sheriff's Department says the 94-car train was headed south near Parkers Prairie on Wednesday when it lost air pressure and went into an emergency braking mode. Fourteen tankers derailed. Three either leaked or spilled oil.

Minnesota Pollution Control Agency spokesman Dan Olson says an estimated 20,000 to 30,000 gallons of oil spilled or leaked. The agency says the spill is under control.

Olson says one heavily damaged car spilled much of its 26,000-gallon load. He says the oil is "just oozing out" in the cold.

Olson says because the ground is frozen, there's no threat to water.

Canadian Pacific spokesman Ed Greenberg says the railroad is cleaning up the spill.
