ROCHESTER (AP) - One person is dead after an early morning apartment fire in Rochester that forced dozens of people into the subzero cold.

The fire broke out Tuesday at Mile Manor Apartments.

Deputy Fire Chief Steve Belau says the fire started in the apartment where the victim was found.

The Rochester Fire Department is withholding the victim's name until relatives are notified.

The cause of the fire and the death are still being investigated.

Residents who were evacuated stayed in their cars or went to a nearby motel to keep warm.
